Spirit Lake (Dickinson): The ice finally receded so smallmouth bass fishing should start soon. Look for good bluegill and crappie fishing at the North Grade and Trickles Slough.
West Okoboji Lake (Dickinson): Bluegill and crappie fishing will start in the canals where the water is warmer than the main lake. As the lake water warms, smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing will pick up.
East Okoboji Lake (Dickinson): Channel catfish fishing is good. Look for bluegills and crappies to be biting at the north end of the lake and for excellent white bass fishing at the spillway.
Upper Gar Lake (Dickinson): An excellent lake for early season panfish action.
Storm Lake (Buena Vista): Fishing is fair for walleyes all over the lake. People are having the best success with white or chartreuse twister tails either tipped with a minnow or bare hook. A few catfish and white bass are being caught, but most people are fishing for walleye.
Clear Lake (Cerro Gordo): The water temperature is in the upper 40s to low 50s. Walleye fishing is excellent on the reefs and rocky shorelines. Yellow bass are hitting small jigs, minnows and cut bait. White bass are being caught while walleye and yellow bass fishing. Channel catfish are being caught in the west end of the lake.
Beeds Lake (Franklin): Crappie fishing is good off the causeway using small jigs and minnows.
Little Wall Lake (Hamilton): Crappies are hitting on the north end of the lake. Anglers using small jigs or minnows below a bobber are doing the best. A year class of 5 to 7-inch crappie is abundant in the lake, so sorting will be required for the larger fish. Channel catfish are being caught on the north end using minnows and cut bait fished on or near the bottom.
Lake Cornelia (Wright): Walleye fishing is fair using jigs and minnows. Bullhead fishing is excellent for 8 to 10-inch fish using night crawlers on the bottom.
